We are also writing a book.
Mum solves teenage son’s stigmatised illness when doctors couldn’t – offering hope for millions of ME/CFS and Long Covid sufferers.
When 17-year-old Elliot suddenly becomes gravely ill, requiring round-the-clock care in a terrifying battle to keep him alive, and the doctors offer no answers, Becky, his mother, discovers a crucial overlooked blood test and, with a scientist’s help, finds a pathway to his recovery.
This true story, told from both Elliot’s and Becky’s perspectives, illuminates the horrendous problems currently faced by millions of people suffering from Myalgic Encephalitis (ME), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), and Long Covid (LC).
Still, more importantly, this story is full of hope, showing how a mother’s courage and determination, combined with a scientist’s expertise in biochemistry and his willingness to help, transformed her son’s life, giving hope to millions of others with similar long-term chronic illnesses.
This breakthrough gave Elliot his life back. Today, he has passed his A-levels and his driving test, and returned to part-time work—something they never thought possible during his worst years.
Not only does this unique book tell Elliot’s painful story, but it also shares the many practical lessons that Becky learned while caring for him, including her valuable biochemical discoveries.
This book will provide tools to empower others suffering from chronic illness to understand their bodies and explore ways to make simple but significant lifestyle changes and take control of their health.
