A Thank You to Greg Russell-Jones’ Groundbreaking Work

When Elliot, my son, was bedbound, wracked with pain and unable to tolerate any stimulation due to severe ME/CFS, we felt hopeless—until we discovered the work of Greg Russell-Jones. His research into functional B2 and B12 deficiencies gave us a roadmap to recovery when nothing else worked.

As a parent, watching my son suffer was heartbreaking. After years of searching for answers, we discovered Greg Russell-Jones RnB™ Protocol—a targeted nutritional approach that played a crucial role in Elliot's recovery.

Today, I want to share a simple breakdown of the protocol and how it works.

This post is my way of saying thank you to Greg for his tireless work. I also want to share the key insights that helped my son in simple terms, so that you can also benefit.

(Note: The full RnB™ Protocol is proprietary to B12 Oils. Please visit B12oils.com for the full protocol and how to implement it yourself. This is not medical advice—just our family’s experience.)

The Simple Science That Helped Us

Problem:

Many people with ME/CFS & Long COVID have:

- "Normal" B12 levels in blood tests—but their bodies can’t use it properly.

- Hidden B2 deficiency—because their B2 isn’t getting activated.

Why It Matters:

  • B2 (riboflavin) needs iodine, selenium, and molybdenum to work.

  • Without active B2, B12 (even in high doses) can’t do its job—leading to fatigue, brain fog, and pain.

Solution:

1. Test first

- Hair Metals Test (HMTA): Checks iodine, selenium, and molybdenum status.

- Organic Acids Test (OAT): Identifies functional B2 deficiency

- Thyroid Markers (TSH/T4/T3): Low T3 can indicate B2 dysfunction.

2. Support B2 activation with gradual mineral repletion.

- Iodine: Start low (50–150 mcg/day), and monitor thyroid response.

- Selenium: 55–200 mcg/day (supports glutathione production).

- Molybdenum: 50–200 mcg/day (aids sulfite detox).

Caution: Start low and slow! much too fast can trigger serious reactions.

3. Add B2 and active B12 (methylcobalamin/adenosylcobalamin).

For more information on each of these vitamins and minerals, please see the individual blog posts

However, this isn't a quick fix.

Why This Protocol Works When Nothing Else Did

1. It Fixes the Root Cause

   - Most treatments just mask symptoms—this corrects the metabolic block.

2. Personalized & Science-Backed

   - Unlike guesswork supplements, it’s based on individual testing.

3. Greg Russell-Jones’ Lifesaving Research

   - Without his work, we’d still be trapped in the dark.

A Message to Other ME/CFS Sufferers and their Families

We have recorded a video talking through the whole protocol and our experience with it here:

Forever Grateful

To Greg Russell-Jones: Thank you. Your dedication gave Elliot his life back—and our family hope again.

To everyone still fighting—there’s hope. Start with the science, be patient, and keep going.

Can I Help You?

While the full RnB™ Protocol is proprietary, the science behind it is clear: B2 and B12 deficiencies are treatable metabolic blocks.

For my son, addressing them was life-changing—and I’m honoured to now help others do the same.

  • I offer functional testing & support with analysis (OAT, HMTA, thyroid markers).

  • Support with safe, gradual nutrient repletion (based on your unique deficiencies).

  • Help interpret your unique needs. (No medical advice—just coaching!).
